Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a whopping price of INR 14.25 Cr in the IPL 2021 auction.
While a lot of cricket experts raised their eyebrows, former India wicket-keeper batsman Deep Dasgupta feels Maxwell will be a great addition to the franchise. He felt that the explosive batsman will be a perfect fit in this RCB squad and his playing style will suit the RCB side.
“One of the biggest additions, for me, I would be really, really interested to see Glenn Maxwell at RCB. I just have a feeling that this franchise might suit his personality and the way he plays his cricket,” Deep Dasgupta told India Today.
“There is a lot of similarity in terms of the franchise, which is RCB and Glenn Maxwell. So I think this could be a year where Glenn Maxwell can prove he is as good a player in the IPL as he is any other tournament in the world,” he added.
Even though the Maxwell did not have a great season in 2020, there was a bidding war between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and RCB during the player auction, where eventually the latter got the hold of the Australian.
The Virat Kohli-led franchise will be taking the field against the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener scheduled on 9 April in Chennai.
