Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques had led the Sydney Sixers to two back to back Big Bash League (BBL) titles in the 2019-2020 and 2021 season but he denied taking the credit for the success alone, saying each and every member of the squad played an integral role in their title wins BBL 09 and BBL 10.

Henriques, who was Player of the Series in BBL 09, believes that a successful team needs players who are ready to help their captain when required and he had that good players and leaders there for him to help in the tournament that’s enabled him to win the trophies for the Sydney Sixers.

Well now, the all-rounder is all set to be seen in action for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), and he is ready to do a similar thing for his captain KL Rahul in the lucrative tournament starting April 9 (Friday).

Henriques told the Punjab Kings website: “Just because you're the captain, it doesn't mean you run the show. I had 10 other very good players, very good leaders out there helping me. And now I'll be trying to do the same for KL (Rahul), whether it be while playing or watching the game. It is about trying to make the team get better from wherever I may be.”

The 34-year-old also explained how good fielding turns the game in a team's favor especially in the shortest format of the game, saying: “I think fielding is a huge part of the game that doesn't get the praise and the acknowledgment it deserves.”

He signed off by saying, “A lot of the best teams I've played with have had really good fielding setups. If you can constantly save 5-10 runs in the field whilst the other teams are probably losing a few runs on the field every time. If you take that half catch or the odd run-out chance, you do it multiple times in a season and it will probably get you two or three extra wins through the course of a season.”

Noteworthy, Punjab Kings will open their IPL 14 campaign against the Rajasthan Royals on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
