Australia’s right-hand batsman Glenn Maxwell, who was picked by Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), is eager to share the dressing room with the likes of Kohli, AB de Villiers.
Even though the 32-year-old had a disappointing season in IPL 2020, he was picked by RCB for a hefty price of INR 14.25 Crs. While it was shocking for some cricket experts, the all-rounder himself was not surprised at all.

“Not really (surprised), I thought there might be a little bit of interest. I think a lot of teams want that middle-order player; I knew there were a couple of teams who were looking for a middle-order player who can bowl off-spin as well,” Maxwell said in a video uploaded by RCB’s official Twitter handle.

The explosive batsman then talked about how he is really excited for the 14th edition of IPL as he said, “I suppose for me, I am so excited to get going again. New team, new tournament, we are back in India, I am excited to get stuck in. It was nice to see some friendly faces and just get some of that energy that you have been conserving during the seven-day quarantine.”
The Bangalore-based franchise will get their IPL 2021 campaign underway in the tournament opener against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on 9 April in Chennai.
