Khan, who had a base price of INR 20 lakh, was bought for INR 5.25 cr by Punjab Kings in the IPL 2021 auction.
The 25-year-old was one of the major attractions among the budding cricketers and before PBKS made the winning bid, Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore had also bid for him.
Last season, Mumbai Indians had called him for trails before the auction but he failed to impress them. He couldn't find a bidder for him in IPL 2020. But a good performance for Tamil Nadu in the 2020-21 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy helped him get an IPL contract this year.
