After completing his deferred two-year ban for breaching the ICC anti-corruption code, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan is looking forward to make an impact in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.

While talking to PTI, the all-rounder made it clear that he wants to do well for the team as he said, “I'm very much confident, it's just that I need one good game to get it going. If I can start well, I think I can do well for the team.

The left-hand batsman who was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad that won the IPL tournaments in 2012 and 2014, ended up playing just three matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2019 before his temporary ouster from the game.

When asked about getting into the playing XI as an overseas player, he said, “There are 8-10 overseas players in each team and only four can play. You have to keep an open mind, keep training hard and need to make sure whenever you get a chance, you grab the opportunity with both hands.

With KKR failing to reach the playoffs for two years in a row, the 34-year-old is optimistic and feels that this year the team will be able to get the results their fans have been hoping for.

This team has grown in the last two years. This is the year I think KKR will be able to deliver the performance that fans have been asking for. I'm very much optimistic, KKR will get the result,” Shakib said.
