Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, all-rounder Akshar Patel and West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer gathered at Delhi Capitals' (DC) team hotel in Mumbai on Monday (March 29) for the 2021 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL).

"The players will be in quarantine for one week," the franchise said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, England all-rounder Chris Woakes also landed in Mumbai to assemble with the Delhi Capitals squad.

According to BCCI's SOPs for IPL 2021, all players (except for those from the India-England series), support staff, and management entering the bubble will have to undergo seven days of isolation in their hotel rooms.

During this period, every person will be tested multiple times and upon returning the negative results, they will be allowed to resume outdoor training and practice sessions

On Sunday (March 28), Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting also boarded flight to join the team's squad.

Taking to Twitter, Ponting wrote: "Staying safe, on my way to join @delhicapitals and get things started for #IPL2021. Can't wait."

IPL 2021 is due to begin on April 9, with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener at Chepauk.

DC will open their campaign against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 10 in Mumbai.
