21-year-old Arjun Tendulkar was the last player to be sold in the IPL 2021 auction, as he was bought by Mumbai Indians (MI) for his base price of INR 20 lakhs. The cricketer, who is the son of legend Sachin Tendulkar, had recently made his Mumbai senior debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy recently.

However, him getting a bid from Mumbai Indians raised many eyebrows given the association between his father Sachin Tendulkar and the five-time IPL champions, for whom, the Bharat Ratna was a marquee player in the very first IPL auction in 2008.

However, Arjun got a confidence boost in form of a loving message from sister Sara Tendulkar, who shared the good news of him getting a bid in the IPL 2021 auction on her Instagram account.

“Nobody can take this achievement away from you. It is yours:” Sara wrote on her Instagram story.

"Since childhood, I have been a die-hard fan of Mumbai Indians. I would like to thank the coaches, owners and the support staff for showing faith in me. I can't wait to put on the blue and gold (jersey)," Arjun Tendulkar said in a video message after the IPL 2021 auction.

Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardena said that Arjun Tendulkar was selected purely on the basis of his skills and not because he was Sachin Tendulkar’s son.
