Billings was bought by Delhi Capitals at his base price after his name came for the second time in the auction.
England's Sam Billings had gone unsold in the first round of bidding in the IPL 2021 auction at Chennai on Thursday (February 18). His tweet after finding no buyer in the auction was hilarious.
Billings' girlfriend asked him why he isn't a bowler after seeing the fierce bidding for the bowlers in the auction. Franchises looked very much interested in the bowlers.
"My girlfriend Sarah just turns to me and goes… ‘why aren’t you a bowler?'", he tweeted after going unsold in the first round.
Sarah thankfully won't need to turn Billings into a bowler as he found a bidder after his name came up for the second time. Delhi Capitals (DC) paid the Englishman his base price of Rs. 2 crore.
The 29-year-old has played for Delhi back in 2016 and 2017. He made his IPL debut with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).
"Back to where my @IPL journey began! Can’t wait to join up with the @DelhiCapitals ???????? #YehHaiNayiDilli", he tweeted after Delhi bought him.
Billings said in a video that he's excited to join the franchise which has India's star players like Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant.
