Maxwell, who entered into the auction with a base price of INR 2 crore, won the bid with an INR 14.25 crore and he is now keen to help the franchise in winning the IPL.
"Looking forward to joining @RCBTweetsfor this year's @IPL. Can't wait to put everything I have into helping us lift the trophy," Maxwell tweeted.
RCB, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all showed interest in the Australian cricketer and in the end, Maxwell was picked up by the Virat Kohli-led side.
Maxwell was released by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) ahead of the mini-auction.
After fetching Maxwell, RCB Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson said: "Often Maxwell has been used in a finisher role, he is a multi-skilled player and he can bowl off-spin as well. It depends on what the team wants, we all look at how to bring the best out of him. We were after the X-factor player and we got that in form of Maxwell."
Overall, Maxwell has played 82 games, scoring 1505 runs at a strike-rate of 154.68 with six half-centuries.
