IPL 2020: Coach Ricky Ponting elated as Delhi Capitals reach their first-ever IPL final

Ponting said it was the result of their hard work they put in so far.

Delhi Capitals' head coach Ricky Ponting has expressed his excitement and hailed his boys after they made it to their first-ever final of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) on Sunday (November 8).

On Sunday, DC led by Shreyas Iyer has shown their best and defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 13 Qualifier 2 by 17 runs to set a date with Mumbai Indians (MI) for the title clash on 10th of November.

In the crucial encounter, the Capitals produced a brilliant all-round performance as they batted well, fielded well, and bowled well to crush SRH on Sunday in Abu Dhabi.

On the other hand, SRH batsman failed to fire the guns on an important day except for Kana Williamson (67 off 45) while they were not also good with the ball also and paid the price for it.

Shikhar Dhawan (78), Shimron Hetmyer (42) and Marcus Stoinis’ all-round (38 runs off 27 balls and 3 wickets) while Kagiso Rabada’s (4 w) another sizzling display with the ball sealed the final spot for the Capital against MI to be held at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday.

Following his team thrilling win over SRH, Head coach Ponting was thrilled that the franchise qualified for the maiden IPL final, saying it was a great reward for all the hard work that players have accomplished so far in the T20 league.

The Australian great took to Twitter on Sunday and hailed the DC players while sharing a number of pictures from their Qualifier 2 clash with SRH in Abu Dhabi on his social media handle.

Ponting wrote on Twitter, “Thrilled for the boys to make it through to @delhicapitals first IPL final, it's a great reward for all the hard work they've put in since we got here and gelled together as a group. One more step to go.”
