Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha believes Virat Kohli has already achieved so much as a batsman and the Indian and RCB skipper will now be keen to win major titles with his teams.

Ojha hailed Kohli as a 'modern-day great' and likened his hunger to win titles to that of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Usain Bolt.

Kohli has been playing for RCB ever since the inception of IPL in 2008. While he has done a remarkable job with the bat, RCB are yet to win an IPL title with him at the helm of affairs.

Under Kohli’s captaincy, the franchise has failed to qualify for the play-offs in the last three seasons. While the captain had an extraordinary year with the bat, smashing four centuries in IPL 2016 wherein they reached the final, RCB finished 8th, 6th and 8th in the eight-team table in the subsequent editions.

In the ongoing season in UAE, however, RCB have performed well. They are a win away from reaching the play-offs as they take on Delhi Capitals in an all-important contest in Abu Dhabi on Monday (November 2).

"Virat Kohli is the modern great. For modern greats, you look at Messi, you look at Ronaldo, you look at Usain Bolt, they have their own race. They want to win everything. When they are going in their path, they want to win everything that they look at.

"That's how Virat must be thinking. 'As a batsman, I have done so much. As a captain, now, I have to win World Cups, ICC tournaments, win Test matches'. This is what his mind will be telling him. IPL, 'I will do this'," Ojha told Sports Today.

The winner of the RCB vs DC tie will certainly make it to the playoffs while the loser might be knocked out of the tournament if the margin of defeat is big and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) win their last league match against table-toppers Mumbai Indians (MI) on November 3.

For this crunch contest, Pragyan Ojha backed Kohli to deliver like he has done on numerous occasions in the past.

"I am sure he (Kohli) will be charged up. His record tells us that when it comes to the bigger games, this man has delivered. So that's why we all are talking about them. It again comes to down basics. The team that makes lesser mistakes. Teams have to keep it simple," Ojha said.
