Kohli tried to sledge Suryakumar as the batsman took MI to yet another win in IPL 2020.
However, apart from Varun Chakravarthy, no new face was included in the Indian contingent and Suryakumar’s omission hit a nerve for everyone out there. He has been one of the best batsmen in limited-overs, especially in IPL for a number of years, first for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and then for Mumbai Indians, where he has got to bat higher up the order and has even opened the innings.
IPL 2020: Manoj Tiwary lauds Ravi Shastri for supporting Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav on Wednesday looked like a man on a mission as he batted with a steely resolve to score a match-winning 43-ball 79* against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Abu Dhabi.
The match also saw a moment when Virat Kohli, the RCB and India captain tried to get under the skin of Suryakumar by giving him the classic eye stare and attempted to sledge him. But the MI batsman kept his cool, though he didn’t break any eye contact.
Kohli faced flak on social media for what many perceived as a poor gesture towards the MI batsman. On the other hand, some Twitter savvy users dug into the MI batsmen’s account and found some highly appreciative tweets for the Indian captain.
Suryakumar has 362 runs in 12 matches with a strike-rate of 155.36 and an average of 40.22. His best score has been 79* and he has hit 8 sixes and 48 fours so far.
"I was looking to finish games for a long time. I used to think about how to do it. I needed to know my game completely and just go out and do it. Been doing meditation, spending time on myself, which helps me out in the middle. I have been loving the No. 3 position, but I wanted to finish off the game, which is why I am glad about this effort,” SKY said during the post-match presentation.
