Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was elated to be able to finish the match off for his team against the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2020 at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (October 25).

Gaikwad was the star in CSK’s chase of modest 146 against the RCB in the 44th match of the ongoing IPL 2020, as the batsman played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 65 runs – his maiden fifty in the tournament, as well as, added 67 runs for the 2nd wicket with Ambati Rayudu (39 off 27 balls) to finish off a chase in style in Dubai on Sunday.

With a massive 8-wicket win over RCB in Dubai, CSK has risen to the seventh spot in the points table with eight points from 12 matches while RCB is in the third spot with 14 points.

Gaikwad said at the post-match presentation: “It feels good. More importantly, winning the game for the team. And is not out in the end. It was tough for me to go into quarantine for more days than the rest of the team because of COVID-19. I got support from everybody.”

He further added, “I knew a knock was always around the corner. It was a little bit slow, but I was picking up the gaps. And I was proactive to pick which bowlers to attack and which to not.”

Noteworthy, Gaikwad, before the start of the IPL 13, had tested positive for COVID-19, and resulting in, he had to spend a longer quarantine than some of his team-mates in the UAE.

The three-time IPL champions CSK will now lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next IPL 13 clash on Thursday, October 29 at the Dubai International Stadium.
