Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) led by Virat Kohli have always been on the critics’ radar for their ordinary performances despite having a number of world-class players at the rank in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years, but this year, they have been looked a completely different side in the UAE.

However, RCB might have not won an IPL title in the 12 years, but in the ongoing IPL 2020, they look top contender to win the maiden trophy in the UAE and captain Kohli said it was a result of team management’s belief in its players despite a lot of public criticism.

After RCB’s crushing 8-wicket win over KKR in the 39th game of the ongoing IPL 13, Kohli hits back at the critics by saying people do not have faith in his team’s abilities but all players do have the desired confidence given by the team management and that’s only matters for them.

On Wednesday (October 21), RCB chased down a total of 85 with 8 wickets in hand in 14th over against KKR and with this thrilling win, the franchise jumped to the 2nd position in the points table with 14 points from 10 matches, moving closer to qualifying for the IPL playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Kohli told host broadcaster Star Sports at the post-match presentation: “The management has set in a culture where there is proper planning. It is not random. We have a plan A, we have a plan B, and people are executing it that's why it's looking good. Contrary to the public belief, I don't think a lot of people have belief in RCB. I do, guys in the changeroom do and that's all that matters.”

The delighted captain further explained citing Chris Morris’s example, “We are just here to execute our plans in place. We do have the skills. You can have the best players in the world but if you don't have the belief then you won't have results on the field. You can have the best players in the world but if you don't have the belief it's no good. Morris is loving the responsibility.”

Kohli signed off, “He likes to be in a leadership role in the team. Even against KXIP, he tried to york Gayle. His energy is amazing. A great, great addition to our squad. Last year he had a tough year. A lot of people went hard at him. But he worked hard. He's seeing the result now and we want him to continue.”
