Delhi Capitals’ (DC) fast bowler Ishant Sharma’s IPL 2020 came to an early end after he suffered a back spasm and suffered an oblique muscle tear to put him out of the tournament itself. He played just one match in IPL 13 before being sidelined.

The no.1 team currently on the IPL 13 points table, DC has had a dream run so far, winning 7 out of 9 matches and earning 14 points. They are one win away from qualifying for the playoffs. However, they have had to face a string of injuries to their key players including Ishant.

Leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who looked in great form with 3 wickets in 3 matches, injured his finger on his bowling hand badly against Kolkata Knight Riders and had to come back to India for further treatment.

Ishant was looking forward to a good IPL and had talked about the same in the build-up to the tournament. However, it was time for him to come back to India in order to get treated and become fit in time for the tour of Australia and he bid an emotional farewell to the DC family.

DC social media team posted a video on their Twitter encapsulating the teary-eyed moments from the farewell, in which Ishant is seen hugging all his teammates, including coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer, before saying his goodbyes.
