The 35th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 saw Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Abu Dhabi. SRH skipper Warner won the toss and decided to field first.

It was a team effort from KKR as they made 163/5 in 20 overs. Gill (36), Morgan (34), Karthik (29) and Rana (29) made the bulk of scores. T Natarajan picked 2/40 in his 4 overs.

The chase proved to be a tricky one as Kane Williamson came to open the batting due to an injury, but made 29 in 19 balls. Jonny Bairstow made 36 with 7 fours to his name. However, Lockie Ferguson (3/15) removed the more dangerous Priyam Garg and Manish Pandey to hurt their chase.

But Warner stood tall and with help of Abdul Samad (23 in 15 balls) tried to keep the chase to an achievable one. During his knock, Warner also became the first foreigner and fourth overall batsman and the fastest ever (135 innings) to reach the 5,000-run mark in the IPL.

Warner made 47* in 33 balls, hitting Russell for three fours in the last over when 18 runs were needed and took the match to the last ball, where two runs were required. Unfortunately, Warner could amass only one run and the match ended in a tie.

This was the third tie of the IPL 2020 with Delhi Capitals winning the super over against Kings XI Punjab, while Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians in the second super over of the tournament.

Super Over

KKR’s Lockie Ferguson bowled David Warner on the first ball of the super over to start things. He then bowled Abdul Samad on the third ball, ending SRH’s super over on 2 runs.

Rashid Khan bowled the super over for SRH, but Karthik and Morgan were successful in making the 3 required runs and won the super over, with KKR pocketing two important points.

The cricket fraternity was exhausted by the time this exciting match ended but took to Twitter to applaud both teams, especially KKR for this amazing victory.
