KXIP had beaten RCB by 97 runs thanks to KL Rahul's 132*.
KXIP captain KL Rahul had scored a majestic 132* and helped his team to a huge total of 206/3 in 20 overs. And RCB could only manage 109 runs. Incidentally, this remains KXIP’s only win in the IPL 2020 so far as they have lost 6 games out of 7 played and are on the bottom of the points table.
Before the match happened, both captains were engaged in a funny banter on Instagram Live. Virat Kohli hosted a live session for Puma India wherein global sports personalities including Pep Guardiola, Mary Kom, Sunil Chhetri, and KL Rahul were all part of the panel.
KL Rahul reminded Kohli of the catches his fielders dropped during the previous matches, which helped him get the highest individual score by an Indian in the IPL history, and said that he hoped RCB fielders continued doing so in the upcoming match as well.
“It feels good to know that the only team we have beaten so far is RCB so we will come in the game with a bit more confidence and I have always enjoyed playing with and playing against RCB,” KL Rahul said.
Virat Kohli, the RCB skipper, was quick to bounce back as he said, “You do know that the loss against KXIP was the worst loss for us this season? We will definitely try to rectify it this time.”
“I just hope that some of your (RCB) fielders drop a couple of more catches,” Rahul recalled RCB’s misfortunes.
To which Kohli again retorted, “I am going to occupy all those crucial positions where you were dropped in the last game and you might well think twice before hitting us.”
