Karthik returned to form with a scintillating knock
Opting to bat first, KKR lost Rahul Tripathi (4) and Nitish Rana (2) cheaply. Subsequently, Shubman Gill steadied the innings with a 49-run stand with Eoin Morgan (24).
After Morgan’s dismissal, Dinesh Karthik arrived at the crease and the KKR skipper looked in great touch from the outset.
Karthik forged a 82-run partnership with Gill and in the process, notched up his first fifty of this year’s IPL. The captain scored 58 off just 29 balls (8 fours and 2 sixes) before getting run-out in the last over.
Gill also played a valuable knock of 47-ball 57 as KKR eventually finished with 164/6 in 20 overs.
After the first half of the match, cricket experts lauded Dinesh Karthik as he returned to form with a blazing fifty.
