Smith admitted Royals haven't played their best game in their last two defeats.
Ahead of crucial IPL 2020 match against Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Steve Smith has hinted that some changes could be made in his team for the 20th game of the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday (6 October) in Abu Dhabi.
The winner of the inauguration edition of the IPL has got off a stunning start to their IPL 2020 campaign, winning back to back first two games in the ongoing tournament, but failed to deliver the best version of themselves in the past two games, resulting in facing two defeats on the trot.
Following back-to-back defeats, the RR has slipped to the 4th spot in the points table, but captain Smith was confident that the Royals will bounce back in their next fixture against MI on Tuesday, saying they will try to give a tough fight to the defending champions in Abu Dhabi.
Smith said in the official release ahead of RR v MI clash: “The last two games haven’t gone to plan for us after what was a really good start to the tournament. But I guess that’s the way T20 cricket goes sometimes. We haven’t played our best games in our last two and have been outplayed by the opposition on both occasions. It’s about regrouping and moving forward now, trying to get better and get some wins on the board in the coming games.”
Meanwhile, RR’s batting department is totally dependent on Smith, Sanju Samson, and Jos Buttler and won their first two games on the back of their captain and Kerala star’s back-to-back half-centuries, but they couldn’t deliver in the last two games, eventually, the team lost both the games.
However, the Australian superstar hoping to score runs against the MI while hinting at few changes in the RR playing XI for the 20th game of the IPL 13 to give a tough challenge to the table topper.
Smith signed off by saying, “Hopefully I’m able to score a few runs tomorrow. I’ve missed out on the last two games but that happens. We’ll see which of our players fit in our plans for tomorrow’s match and fit in certain scenarios in the game and try and get the best match-ups for Mumbai.”
