IPL 2020: "Priyam Garg looks like a bright prospect," says Virender Sehwag; praises his knock vs CSK

Sehwag lauded Garg and Abhishek Sharma in his style after their excellent show against CSK.

India’s young batting sensation Priyam Garg has set the stage on fire with his explosive batting during the 14th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday (October 2).

Batting first, SRH got off to a worst possible start in the 14th Match against CSK, as the 2016 IPL winners suffered a disastrous batting collapse which saw them in deep trouble at 69/4 in 11 overs but youngsters Priyam and Abhishek Sharma took the charge of the team and brought out of danger.

Garg played an excellent unbeaten inning of 51* runs off just 25 balls while Abhishek played a fighting 31 runs knock, as well as, the duo added 77 runs to guide his side to a respective total 164/5 in 20 overs against CSK on Friday in Dubai.

In his game-changing innings against CSK, the 19-year-old batsman played some explosive shots including 6 fours and one six to secure his maiden IPL half-century and earned a lot of applaud from the cricket fraternity for his mature and fiery innings on Friday.

The formidable stand between the two India’s U-19 stars rescued the SRH from a humiliating defeat against the CSK and former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was highly impressed with the strokes played by the youngsters against the senior CSK bowlers in the match.

Taking to Twitter after the match, Sehwag heaped praise on the two promising stars for their courageous show with the bat against the experience CSK while calling Garg as a very bright prospect.

He wrote on Twitter: “Baghban feeling for Chennai. Under 19 guys smashing the senior guys. Priyam Garg looks a very bright prospect. Great tournament for the youngsters so far.”

Noteworthy, SRH will next take on Mumbai Indians in their next IPL 2020 clash on 4th October in Sharjah.
