The 11th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals proved to be another tightly played encounter between two similarly matched sides. SRH put enough runs on the board batting first and defended it well against a formidable DC batting lineup.

However, for Delhi Capitals’ captain Shreyas Iyer, this match caused him even more pain, as after the loss, he was also fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate against SRH. As it was his first strike, he was let off with a fine under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offense.

IPL 2020: DC head coach Ricky Ponting admits being "outplayed" by SRH

"Delhi Capitals Captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Abu Dhabi on 29 September 2020. As it was his team's first offense of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offenses, Iyer was fined Rs 12 lakh,” an IPL release stated.

Earlier Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli was found guilty of his team maintaining a slow over-rate against Kings XI Punjab and was also fined Rs 12 lakh.

DC lost their first game of the IPL 2020, after spirited efforts from Jonny Bairstow and Kane Williamson with the bat and Rashid Khan and T Natarajan with the ball, enabled SRH to post a 15-run win after making 162/4 batting first.

In their chase, DC couldn’t find any momentum after a slow start and as the pressure increased, their batsmen succumbed to the guile and skills of SRH bowlers. Rashid Khan was named the Player of the Match for his 3/14 in 4 overs.
