Delhi Capitals (DC) faced Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 11th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (September 29).

Asked to bat first, SRH rode on Jonny Bairstow’s 48-ball 53 and skipper David Warner’s 33-ball 45 to post 162/4 on the board. Playing his first game in this year’s IPL, Kane Williamson also played a brilliant knock of 41 in just 26 deliveries.

Kagiso Rabada was the stand-out bowler for Capitals, returning with the figures of 2 for 21 in his four overs. Leg-spinner Amit Mishra also claimed a couple of wickets by conceding 35 runs in his four-over quota.

In reply, DC got off to a terrible start as they lost their top three with just 62 runs on the board. While Rashid Khan removed Shikhar Dhawan (34) and Shreyas Iyer (17), Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Prithvi Shaw (2).

Although Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant shared a 42-run stand for the fourth wicket to steady the ship, they couldn’t keep the required run-rate under check and eventually perished in successive overs. While Hetmyer (21 off 12 balls) was Bhuvneshwar’s second wicket, Pant was Rashid’s third victim as the Afghanistan leg-spinner gave away only 14 runs in his four overs.

Later in the innings, T Natarajan and Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Marcus Stoinis (11) and Akshar Patel (5) respectively as SRH restricted DC to 147/7.

Cricket experts were quite impressed with Rashid Khan’s brilliance with the ball, which ensured Sunrisers’ first victory this season.
