Gautam Gambhir talked about the capability of the batsman he rates at top in IPL.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul became the first batsman in IPL 2020 to score a hundred. Rahul took on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bowlers and smashed them all around the corner. He scored 132* off just 69 deliveries.
Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir lauded Rahul for his unstoppable knock against RCB. After being impressed with Rahul's effortless hitting, he called him the number one player in IPL currently.
West Indies great Ian Bishop also praised the KXIP star player during the ESPNCricinfo’s T20 Timeout show. He said Rahul did well to balance his innings which ended up as one of the finest IPL knocks.

“The way he balanced his innings was great. I was sitting there watching those first 50 runs, and outside of the powerplay I was thinking ‘geez, he is just settling there, not anchor it, but looking to balance it’. “
“And I think he did that beautifully. Forget the chances, the way he accelerates towards the end, having batting that deep in the innings, I think it makes him a complete batsman,” he added.
Gambhir echoed Bishop's words and added, “This was a proper inning. Not even a single slog in the innings to be honest. That is what the quality of the man is. He can hit those cricketing shots and with that much of impact and that much strike rate, he shows what he is capable of.
“I have to agree with Ian Bishop that in IPL, he is probably the no. 1 player at the moment,” he further said.
