Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) may have lost their first IPL 2020 game to Delhi Capitals (DC) in a super over, but they didn’t miss a beat in their second game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Led from the front by captain KL Rahul, KXIP handed RCB a huge 97-run defeat in Dubai.

Rahul made a record-breaking 132*, which is the highest score by an Indian and by a captain in IPL history, helping KXIP to 206 runs in 20 overs. Apart from Rahul, KXIP fast bowler Mohammad Shami also had a good outing so far in the two matches, picking 3/15 against DC and 1/14 against RCB.

He also received the Purple Cap for most wickets in IPL 2020 at this stage and in a video posted by KXIP on Twitter, said that he was elated with the Purple cap and stressed that it was important to execute plans perfectly.

IPL 2020: Mohammad Shami's exemplary work-ethic reason for his success, says Charl Langeveldt

"Feeling so good to get the Purple Cap. The confidence has been high since game one and it really matters to execute whatever you have done during the preparation, especially in such a big tournament," Shami said.

He was also all praises for skipper KL Rahul’s innings and said, "Every year we see him (play). The longer he plays, the more you enjoy. We have been playing together for a long time. I have enjoyed a lot of his innings in the past and today was just another day."

In the chase of 207 runs, RCB never got going as KXIP spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin picked three wickets each to rout them for 109 runs.
