The sixth match of the IPL 2020 saw Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. KXIP lost their opening match in a super over against Delhi Capitals while RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL opener.

Virat Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl, which has become a norm in the matches so far in the tournament, given the dew in the latter part of the match. Mayank Agarwal made 28 runs opening the innings, while Pooran (17) and Maxwell (5) failed to get going again.

However, the knock of the match belonged to KL Rahul, who slammed his second IPL century, first in the IPL 2020, and first as KXIP captain. It was an amazing inning from the right-hander and he took apart the best opposition bowler in Dale Steyn, taking him for 26 runs in his last over of his quota.

Karun Nair also got into the act, making 15* in 8 balls, but Rahul remained unbeaten on 132* off 69 balls with 7 sixes and 14 fours. This also became the highest score by a captain in IPL history. He beat SRH skipper David Warner’s record of 126 which came in IPL 2017 against KKR.

It is also the highest score by an Indian in IPL history, beating Rishabh Pant’s 128*. During this innings, KL Rahul also reached the 2000-run milestone in IPL and in just 69 innings, becoming the fastest to do so.

The Cricket fraternity was in awe of this amazing innings by KL Rahul in which he made his last 42 runs in just 9 deliveries. They took to Twitter to applaud a truly great knock by an amazing batsman.
