Mike Hesson also explained why Morris didn’t play against SRH.
South Africa and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Chris Morris is unlikely to play RCB’s next match against Kings XI Punjab on Thursday (September 24) in the ongoing IPL 2020.
RCB Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson has on 22nd September confirmed that Morris will miss the team's next IPL 2020 game against the KXIP after suffering a side strain during training.
The Bengaluru-based franchise led by Virat Kohli has spent INR 10 crores to acquire the services of Morris in a bid to strengthen its weak death bowling department in the IPL 2020. However, due to the injury, the Proteas star had also missed the RCB’s IPL 13 opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
In a video posted by on RCB’s Twitter handle, Hesson said: “Chris Morris, unfortunately, picked up a slight side strain a few days ago, he would have played a huge role through the middle and death overs, his batting would have had a huge impact as well.”
He further added, “This does change the balance of our side, he is a three in one cricketer, he is not easy to replace and as a result, we had to change the structure of our side. Hopefully, Chris will come into consideration for selection in a game or two; we will continue to monitor him.”
