Sanju Samson helped RR begin their IPL 2020 campaign with a win.
Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their first game of IPL 2020. Batting at No.3, Sanju Samson broke a few records and registered a 32-ball 74 to help RR post 216 on the board. CSK fell short of the target by 16 runs and the youngster received a lot of praise for his knock.
After the match, he revealed his preparations in the lockdown and quarantine period that helped him play the knock. He has improved his ability to play the long-range shots and it was evident in Sharjah.
Samson said in the post-match presentation, "I think range-hitting is what the game demands in this generation. I had time to work out in these five months, and I think I've increased that ability. I've been working hard on my fitness, diet, and training, and on my strength, because my game relies a lot on power hitting," he added.

He also revealed that his plan for the rest of the season will be to keep hitting all deliveries that are in his arc and show the right intent to play T20 cricket.
"My game plan is to stand and deliver. If it's in the arc I go for it, and it's very important to keep the intent to hit the ball if it's there to be hit," Samson said.
The 25-year-old did an amazing job with the gloves as well. He affected a couple of stumpings and also took two catches. RR also have Robin Uthappa and Jos Buttler in their side, who can keep wickets for them.
Samson believes that it is up to the coaches to assign the keeping job to whomever they think will be right.
"Everyone likes to keep wickets and no one likes running around, but it's up to the coach. We are happy to bring smiles on the fans' faces and we hope to continue doing so," Samson concluded.
