Kolkata Knight Riders will face the defending champions in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Ahead of the game, Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building – welcomed the Shah Rukh Khan co-owned IPL team with a breathtaking LED display, wishing them good luck for this year's tournament.
Taking to Twitter, KKR shared a video of the same with the caption: “Before the fireworks tomorrow, here's the curtain raiser! We won't stop, on our way to the Top. Thank you @BurjKhalifa for lighting up in #KKR colours. What a welcome to the UAE tonight!”
On the eve of his team’s IPL 2020 opener, KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik, in a pre-match virtual press conference, said it is a good thing that they are going against a strong team like MI so early in the tournament.
"They (Mumbai Indians) have a team of world-class players, they have a strong lineup and the amount of IPL titles they have shows that. It's good that we are playing Mumbai early in the tournament, every year is a different year, I am sure it will be a great game tomorrow," Karthik said.
He also revealed that Shubman Sunil Narine will open the innings for KKR against MI.
"Shubman is a gun, he is a quality player, I am sure he will exceed all expectations, it's good to have him, Gill and Narine make a good opening combination.”
