Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis on Sunday (September 20) delivered a spectacular all-rounder display to help Delhi Capitals (DC) clinch the thrilling super over contest against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in their opening IPL 2020 game in Dubai.

He was adjudged the Player of the Match for his heroics with both the bat and the ball to help the DC to start off their IPL 2020 campaign on a winning note in the UAE.

Stoinis cracked a brilliant knock of 53 off 21 balls to take DC to 157/8 and then took two consecutive wickets to take the game into the Super Over which the franchise eventually won on Sunday.

After the game, the Australian all-rounder admitted the uncertainty of the T20 made it a 'weird game' saying it is easy to become villain from the hero and vice versa in the shorter format of the game.

Stoinis said in the post-match presentation ceremony: “It's a weird game, sometimes the luck goes your way, but it's easy to become the villain from the hero.”

He further added, “So, it's important to enjoy the good days. I try to close down the areas where the bowlers can bowl, and it worked today. It's important to feed off everyone's energy.”

The Aussie signed off by saying, “It's nice that the IPL has gotten going again, and tonight has been great entertainment. I thought KG bowled a beautiful over, and I don't have any qualms about not batting in the super over - I think the left-right batting combination was the right thing.”
