Delhi Capitals beat Kings XI Punjab in the super over and kicked off their IPL 2020 campaign on a winning note.
Earlier Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to field first. Delhi Capitals started off very poorly as Shikhar Dhawan got run out for a duck and Prithvi Shaw and Shimron Hetmyer got out on Shami's bowling without doing anything and at 13/3 they're in big trouble.
Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant's 73 runs innings rebuilt the innings but both batsmen couldn't convert their starts and in the end, Marcus Stoinis' 53 off 21 balls helped Delhi to post a fighting total of 157/8 on the board. For Kings XI Mohammad Shami took 3 wickets for 15 runs.
In reply Kings XI Punjab also had a poor start and lost four wickets for just 35 runs and later reduced to 55/5. Mayank Agarwal was rock solid at his end and when the match going away from his team he changed his gears and started playing big shots and brought Punjab back into the game. In the last over they needed 14 runs to win off Marcus Stoinis bowling. Mayank hit a six and a four in the first three balls and thus they needed only 1 run in the last 3 balls but Mayank and Chris Jordan both got out and the match ended in a tie.
To decide the result super over was played in which Kagiso Rabada did a great job and dismissed Punjab batsmen for just 2 runs and later Delhi chased it down easily and registered their first victory of the season.
