Ahead of the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on 19th September in the UAE, legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has made a big prediction for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) captain KL Rahul while claiming that the IPL 2020 is a huge tournament for the star cricketer.

Rahul has already made a name for himself in the world cricket as well as established himself as a mainstay in Team India’s limited-overs setup with excellence as both batsman and wicket-keeper– which earned him the captain's hat for the first time in the IPL 2020 with KXIP.

Now, the versatile Rahul will have a huge responsibility in the IPL 2020 with batting, wicket-keeping and the leadership role and Gavaskar reckoned that if the stylish right-hander manages to do well in the IPL 13, he can become the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team and even India’s future captain.

As per India Today, Gavaskar said on Sports Tak on Saturday: “There is a great chance for KL Rahul to show that he can score runs when given the responsibility. Secondly, he can show that he is capable of captaining the side and how he molds his team and extracts effort. If he does that well he can even go on to become the vice-captain of the Indian team.”

He concluded, “There are still players in the Indian team like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane. But going forward, he can be an option for the selection committee and can also become India’s future captain. So, this can be a huge tournament for KL Rahul as a skipper.”

Noteworthy, the KXIP will begin its IPL 2020 campaign against the Delhi Capitals on 20th September.
