IPL 2020: CSK squad members conferred with awards by the franchise ahead of tournament opener

CSK will start their IPL 2020 campaign against Mumbai Indians on September 19.

With just two days to go for their IPL 2020 opener against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad members were conferred with awards by the franchise on Thursday (September 17).

MS Dhoni, who has captained CSK to three IPL titles and is one of their most consistent performers with the bat, was honoured for leading the side for 10 seasons and scoring the most runs for them in the last edition.

“Our customary pre-season dinner turned into a memorable lunch this time and our Lions walked away with some Super Duper Awards. #Thala Dhoni for leading the team with the willow and scoring the most runs for the Super Kings in IPL 2019,” CSK wrote on Twitter.

Caribbean all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who recently became the first cricketer to pick up 500 T20 scalps, was awarded for this historic achievement.

“Champion Bravo joined from his room to take one for becoming the first bowler to scale Mount 500 wickets in T20 history,” the three-time champions tweeted.

Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson was also bestowed with a special prize for his herculean performance in the IPL 2019 final.

“Watto Man for giving his sweat and blood on the field for the #yellove cause,” wrote CSK.

A special sword memento was presented to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is the most successful left-arm spinner of the T20 league.

Former Australia batsman Micheal Hussey was rewarded for being with the franchise for 10 years.

“Mr. Cricket for remaining ever super for over 10 years as our go-to Super King,” tweeted CSK.

The 13th edition of IPL will run till November 10 and the sixty-game event will be played across three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
