The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly on Friday (September 4) confirmed that he is going to visit Dubai on September 8 to check whether everything is going well ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

Ganguly has planned the trip to Dubai after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) witnessing a steady rise in the number of COVID-19 cases – which has now become a worry for all teams, as well as, BCCI to plan the schedule for the IPL 2020 as the schedule for the event is yet to be announced.

Ganguly told ABP News, “I am going to Dubai on September 8.”

Well, the BCCI boss is visiting Dubai to meet with officials of all eight IPL franchisees to discuss the important matters that need to be looked into and make sure that all teams strictly follow the BCCI guidelines and the SOPs put in place for the 53-day tournament due to Coronavirus outbreak.

Noteworthy, the number of COVID-19 cases has increased rapidly in the UAE with a total of 1249 new positive cases were recorded on Wednesday and Thursday combined.

Considering the seriousness of the situation, the BCCI is worried about the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the UAE – where IPL 2020 will be played across three venues – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah from 19th September to 10th November.
