Having tested COVID-19 negative and spent 14 days isolated, fielding coach Dishant Yagnik is set to join the Rajasthan Royals (RR) set-up in UAE for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting September 19.

Yagnik, Royals' former wicketkeeper batsman, had on August 12 confirmed that he has tested positive of Coronavirus infection.

The 37-year-old hence stayed back in India while the players and the rest of the support staff headed across to the gulf.

Royals themselves informed of the latest development regarding Yagnik.

“14-day quarantine, 2 negative tests, 1 fitness test. Fielding coach @Dishantyagnik77 is ready for #IPL2020,” the franchise tweeted.

The inaugural season champions, Royals, had their first collective training session in UAE on Wednesday (August 26) after departing earlier than most other teams and finishing the necessary six-day quarantine period quicker.

The next few weeks will be all about going through the hard drills and regaining match fitness for the tournament.

The sixty-game event, for which a detailed itinerary is yet awaited, will be played across venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
