According to a report published in India Today, Ruturaj Gaekwad on Saturday (August 29) became the second CSK player after Deepak Chahar to test positive for the novel Coronavirus.
Just a day ago, the same media outlet had reported that one CSK fast bowler, who has now been revealed as Chahar, and 12 members of support staff test COVID-19 positive.
After their mandatory quarantine and COVID-19 tests, according to the BCCI laid out SOP and the UAE health protocols, some IPL franchises embarked on their first training session on Friday (August 28).
CSK were also supposed to begin their training on Friday but now have been forced to return to quarantine.
Moreover, veteran CSK batsman Suresh Raina has opted out the IPL 2020 due to “personal reasons”.
In a tweet, CSK on Saturday confirmed that the southpaw has returned to India and won’t be available for the entire campaign.
The 2020 season of Indian Premier League will be played in UAE from September 19 to November 10.
The 60 matches will be held behind closed doors across three venues – Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
