Delhi Capitals’ newest member Ajinkya Rahane said the upcoming 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will be a different one from the rest of the seasons, thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic-forced COVID-19 protocols in the UAE.

While the IPL 2020 will kick start on 19th September, the Delhi Capitals squad has already landed in Dubai on Friday (August 20) to complete the mandatory six-day quarantine period to begin preparation for the tournament at the bio-secure environment in the UAE.

Notably, the IPL 2020 will be held at the bio-secure venues Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah with the players not allowed to go outside the bubble throughout the tournament.

The 32-year-old also stressed that the players will have to be very positive and take one step at a time since they are returning to action after such a long gap due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Rahane said: “This IPL will be a very different experience for all of us, and we need to make sure that we are all very positive when we hit the ground running. The key is to take one step at a time.”

During the COVID-19 forced break, Rahane, like other players, has also spent the time away from cricket by focusing on his mental health, physical training.

He signed off by saying, “There is no doubt that it will be a challenging trip for everyone involved. But like everyone else, I’ve spent these last few months focusing on my physical and mental health, and taking care of my family. So the time I’ve managed to spend with them has put me in a positive frame of mind.”
