Veteran Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni’s return to cricket field has been one of the most talked-about topics for long, as he hasn’t seen in action since Men in Blue’s shocking defeat to New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semifinal in England last July.

His long sabbatical from the game has led to a lot of speculations about Dhoni’s retirement from the cricket and then his exclusion from the central contract list gave rise to more speculations.

However, Dhoni was nearing his cricketing return with the IPL 2020, but fate made the former Indian captain and his fans including former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad to wait more, as the T20 tournament has been delayed due to the global Coronavirus pandemic

In the recent interview with Rediff.com, the former chief selector has opened up about his disappointment of seeing a delay in Dhoni's return due to the COVID-19 outbreak, saying being a MSD fan, he wants to see him in action once again and even he was eagerly waiting to see his comeback in the IPL 2020, but unfortunately, he will now have to wait due to the pandemic.

On being asked about Dhoni’s international comeback, former cricketer took a diplomatic take, saying everyone just has to wait and see how the situation develops.

Prasad said, “Like any other fan of MSD, I was also waiting to see him in action in the IPL. Unfortunately, due to the prevailing situation, the IPL has been delayed. Let's wait and see.”

He also commented on Rishabh Pant who is currently facing a tough time, saying the pressure of filling the big shoes of Dhoni has impacted his career graph.

He further explained, “He is the only Indian wicketkeeper-batsman who got Test centuries in both England and Australia. Unfortunately, it is not always easy to step into the shoes of a legendary cricketer when time and again he is being compared (to Mahendra Singh Dhoni). He must have gone through tough times because of these expectations on him.”

Prasad also lauded KL Rahul the way he made comeback after few dark clouds as a multitalented cricketer.  He signed off by saying “KL is a phenomenal player and he is capable of performing well across all formats. Yes, he did have a bit of a rough period. But he has worked hard, he has gone back to domestic cricket, did extremely well for Karnataka and has come back stronger,”
