This extension of the nationwide lockdown is expected to have ramifications on the public as well. IPL 2020: BCCI may hold IPL in Oct-Nov if T20 World Cup gets postponed, as per sources
As per reports of ANI, a BCCI official confirmed that the upcoming season of IPL 2020 has been postponed indefinitely. "Since lockdown has been extended, we have to postpone the IPL for the time being, the decision will be intimated, we will discuss the matter later today," sources within BCCI told ANI.
The Indian Premier League 2020 was supposed to begin from March 29 but was postponed to April 15. However, with the lockdown being extended now, things have become grim for the richest T20 league in the world.
"Till 20th April, all districts, localities, states will be closely monitored, as to how strictly they are implementing norms. States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions," Modi informed the nation in a televised address.
There were talks of holding the IPL 13 in the Oct-Nov window, but BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal rubbished such talks as premature.
