Matthew Hayden was picked by the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the inaugural auction way back in 2008. He managed to play just four games for the team in the very first edition of the IPL, managing 189 runs with two fifties to his name.

However, his next two seasons with the franchise were more productive with 572 runs in IPL 2009, held in South Africa with five fifties to his name and then 346 runs in IPL 2010, which CSK won, and was Hayden’s last season in the league.

His teammate Suresh Raina was nominated by Matthew Hayden to recall his favorite memory of playing in the Indian Premier League and the vice-captain of the CSK franchise, revealed that he loved playing with Hayden and recalled his brilliant innings of 93 runs which came against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2010.

What’s special about that match is Matthew Hayden used a new revolutionary bat in that season of IPL, called the Mongoose bat. The bat was just sweet spot altogether with a very long handle and it tickled the curiosities of everyone who saw it in the hands of a tall and burly batsman like Hayden.

Raina mentioned,” Beautiful memories of #Yellove & @IPL brother @HaydosTweets. One of my favourite innings with you is CSKvsDD from 2010, where I got your autographed bat which is a very precious part of my collection till date. Here I pass it on to @faf1307  to share his favourite moments of #IPL.”

Raina further shared the image of the infamous Mongoose bat that he received from Hayden after getting his autograph on it.
