IPL 2020: Yashasvi Jaiswal's father reacts as his son get a big payday in auction

He was picked by Rajasthan Royals for INR 2.40 crore in the IPL auction.

Coming with a base price of 20 lakh at the IPL Auction 2020 in Kolkata, India U-19 batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal went for big money, as the Rajasthan Royals (RR) has signed the young batsman for whopping INR 2.40 crores on Thursday (December 19) for the upcoming 13th edition of the IPL.

The 17-year-old, who recently became the youngest player to score a List A double-century, used to sell paani puris for a living in his early days of cricketing career but now he is a young crorepati after the IPL auction on Thursday – one before leaving with India U-19 squad for South Africa for World Cup starting January 17.

His father Bhupendra Jaiswal insisted that it’s not about money but all about his hard work for years that paid off after he was picked by the RR in the auction on Thursday.

Sr. Jaiswal told ANI, “His hard work is paying off. I hope that he will perform well in the IPL and would get a chance in the Indian side. I am extremely happy. It is not about money. It is about the hard work that he has done. He is making us proud and I pray to God that he will do well in the upcoming U-19 World Cup and bring the coveted trophy to the country.”

Meanwhile, his mother Kanchan Jaiswal said: “I'm very happy with his selection in Rajasthan Royals and hope that he will make it to the senior side soon.”

Noteworthy, Yashasvi's relatives were celebrated his selection by Rajasthan Royals by distributing sweets in Vakola.
