Australian Consulate-General in Chennai has made a special request to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. They want to see more Australia players in the CSK squad for the next IPL auction.

Recently, all the eight franchise of IPL released the list of players who are retained for the upcoming edition. CSK let five players go from the squad and kept the rest of the members. Scott Kuggeleijn, Sam Billings, David Willey, Chaitanya Bishnoi, and Dhruv Shorey will be in the auction pool.

The IPL auction will take place on December 19 when all franchises are going to have their eyes on available players to complete the squad. The Australian Consulate in Chennai wants Super Kings to consider Aussies players in the auction. "We’d love to see more Aussies playing for @ChennaiIPL... just saying," they wrote.

If we look at history, Australia players have been a significant contributor to Chennai's success. CSK players managed to grab Orange cap twice, and both times they were Australians -- Mathew Hayden and Mike Hussey.

Even in the last couple of season Shane Watson have been a good contributor for them. After winning the IPL 2018 final, he had nearly pulled off another masterclass in IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians. Chennai currently has INR 14.6 crore left in their purse for the auction.
