IPL 2019: Chris Gayle reveals KXIP's IPL ambitions for the Universe Boss

Gayle continued his batting form in Kings XI Punjab's first match of IPL 2019.

West Indies big-hitter Chris Gayle was delighted to start off the IPL 2019 on a positive note after his gusty knock helped King XI Punjab (KXIP) to begin their campaign on winning note on Monday, 25 March at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

In his magnificent knock of 79 off 47 balls, Gayle struck as many as 8 fours and 4 sixes to help KXIP to win their first match of the IPL 2019 by 14 runs against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur.

While many people have been opined that the 39-year-old is slowing down with every game, but the dangerous opener has dismissed the talks, saying he is enjoying his cricket at the moment.

Gayle told media after Jaipur match, “This is a big ground and it is really important to score runs in the first game. I have been in a bit of form in the England series and it's good to start off the IPL on a positive note. What was more important is that we got a win. We just keep getting better and better. Sometimes some people will write you off but it's still early days and I'm enjoying my cricket.”

Meanwhile, the left-hander has also revealed that the KXIP youngsters want to win the IPL 2019 for the 'Universe Boss'.

Gayle signed off by saying, “Our youngsters have a lot to offer for the team, they want to win the IPL for the Universe Boss. Eventually, they got a better wicket to bat on, but our bowlers did the job for us. Sarfaraz (Khan) got some runs today and it was really good.”
