CSK made wholesale changes in its coaching staff with Zaheer Khan replacing Stephen Fleming as head coach.
And now former England cricketer Gareth Batty has been appointed as an assistant coach as well. Batty played 9 Tests, 10 ODIs, and one T20I for England from 2002 to 2016. He also played English county cricket for Surrey, taking 682 First-Class wickets and scoring 7399 runs as well in 261 games.
He was in the Surrey coaching setup from 2021 and had coached them to three consecutive Championship titles before their second-placed finish last year. Before joining MI London this year, he was an assistant coach for Oval Invincibles in the men's Hundred in 2025.
“Three consecutive County Championship titles. A proven leader! Former England international Gareth Batty brings his wealth of experience, tactical expertise, and passion for developing talent to the Super Kings! Welcome to the Den, Gareth Batty!” CSK posted on social media.
On the other hand, Mohit Sharma has replaced Eric Simons as the CSK bowling coach. The former Haryana seamer played 26 ODIs and 8 T20Is for India, including the 2015 ICC World Cup. He featured for CSK in four IPL seasons between IPL 2013 and 2019, taking 58 wickets in 48 matches.
In the IPL, Mohit Sharma also represented the Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. He was GT's second-highest wicket-taker in 2023 and helped them advance to the final, where they were defeated by CSK. In December 2025, he announced his retirement from all cricket.
“Once a Super King. Now ready to shape the next generation! From his IPL debut in Yellow in 2013 to winning the Purple Cap in 2014, Mohit Sharma has given us plenty of reasons to whistle with his masterful slower deliveries and variations! Welcome home, Mohit!” CSK announced his appointment.
