Former Indian spinner Amit Mishra has been unveiled as the spin bowling coach of the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the IPL 2027 season. The 43-year-old has vast experience in the IPL, having played 162 matches for four franchises.

Amit Mishra made his IPL debut in 2008 for Delhi Capitals and has also played for Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Lucknow Super Giants. Mishra ended his IPL career with 174 wickets in 162 games, at an economy of 7.37 and best bowling figures of 5/17.

He also holds the record for most hat-tricks in the IPL, having achieved the feat three times in his career. His first hat-trick in the IPL came for Delhi Capitals, and then he further took two more hat-tricks for Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Mishra also played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, taking a total of 156 wickets.

“I don't know about Legends, but I did really well in the IPL. When I was in the first season of the IPL, I was on the DC’s side, and today I'm going to go to coaching. My first season was with the Delhi Capitals team, and I am very happy. Tiger never leaves his kill. Delhi is the heartbeat for me, and I will try to give all the happiness to Delhi fans, who have been waiting for many years,” Mishra said in a video shared by Delhi Capitals.

Amit Mishra’s appointment as DC spin bowling coach comes on the heels of Chaminda Vaas’ appointment as the fast-bowling coach and Yuvraj Singh becoming the batting and assistant coach of the DC team. Sourav Ganguly has taken over as the DC head coach from Hemang Badani ahead of the IPL 2027 season.
