“We are going to host it in Goa in December’- Devajit Saikia on IPL 2027 auction; IPL chairman Arun Dhumal reveals likely dates

The IPL 2027 will be a one-day event as it is a mini auction.

The date and venue for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2027) auction have been revealed by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and Arun Dhumal, the IPL chairman. The IPL auction was held at overseas locations for the past year, but this time, the event will return to India.

The past three editions of the auction were held in Dubai, Jeddah (mega auction), and Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that the IPL 2027 auction will be hosted in Goa.

"We have finalised Goa. The likely dates are December 15 to 16," said Dhumal as per PTI.

Earlier, Dhumal had stated that this was an intentional effort to conduct the auction in India. This is going to be a one-day event since it is a mini auction.

The Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, made an announcement on Wednesday that the auction for the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) would be held in Goa in December this year.

Saikia stated that after hosting the auction of the IPL in three different international locations in the past three years – Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, BCCI is now planning to host the auction of the present year in Goa in December.

"This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, over the last three years, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December," Saikia stated to ANI.

The IPL 2027 auction will conclude the ongoing three-year cycle, with the IPL 2028 auction to be a mega auction.
