The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) board is set to meet later this month to address a recent undercover sting operation by Tehelka that alleges a player leaked team playing XIs during the IPL 2025 season.
The franchise has reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on corruption and plans to discuss these unverified claims thoroughly ahead of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 25.
A sting operation by Tehelka featured former Ranji Trophy cricketer Rachit Bhatia claiming he fixed five matches during the IPL 2025 season.
Bhatia alleged that he received leaked inside team information (specifically the final playing XI) from a contact inside the CSK squad via Snapchat hours before matches.
Bhatia also claimed he sold these details to bookmakers in London for Rs 60 lakh per match, accumulating Rs 3 crore across five matches.
While social media speculation linked former CSK player Vansh Bedi to the controversy, he has strongly denied the claims, calling them false and defamatory, and confirmed his legal team is pursuing criminal action. The original Tehelka report did not explicitly name the player involved.
A CSK official confirmed to Cricbuzz that the board would formally review the matter ahead of its scheduled AGM. However, he emphasized that these claims remain entirely unverified and unsubstantiated public rumors.
“We have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming up. Our board will meet ahead of the AGM. We will discuss the matter,” the official said.
In the sting operation, Rachit Bhatia also guaranteed a continuous stream of inside team information for the IPL 2026 season. This arrangement depended on his preferred "source" being purchased at the player auction for a targeted fee of Rs 1 crore, promising a 90% accuracy guarantee. However, that specific source remained unsold.
The player quoted in the expose further alleged that classified team information from the Delhi Premier League was shared, and that the tip provided matched the actual playing XI announced for a fixture on August 3 of the most recent season.
Meanwhile, the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Tuesday (September 22) confirmed that Vansh Bedi, who played as a wicketkeeper-batter for the Central Delhi Kings in the DPL 2026, has reported a corrupt approach by a cricketer from a neighboring state.
The association is currently awaiting formal guidance from the BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) on how to proceed with the investigation.
