Stephen Fleming and CSK have parted ways after 18 years of association.
In a video on his YouTube account, former CSK bowler Ravichandran Ashwin mentioned Morgan. He claimed that CSK was giving him serious consideration for the position and that he had a good chance of succeeding Stephen Fleming, who guided CSK for 18 years and five IPL championships.
“I won’t go for Eoin Morgan for sure. He was a good player and a good captain for England. But as a coach, I won’t accept him as an option. Even for KKR as KKR's captain, he didn’t do anything great. It’ll be best if he just sticks to commentary. Likewise, it’ll be good for CSK if they don’t appoint Brendon McCullum as the head coach. They should say no to both Morgan and McCullum,” Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.
Srikkanth selected CSK's current batting coach, Michael Hussey, to succeed Fleming, but stated that captain MS Dhoni's decision on his future as a player and the control he wants to maintain will have the last say.
“CSK don’t need anyone from outside when they have Mr. Cricket with him. Michael Hussey should be the automatic head coach. He will be the best choice. But what will MS Dhoni’s place in CSK be going forward? That arrangement has to be fixed first, and only then will everything else fall in place," said Srikkanth.
Stephen Fleming has been named the new head coach of the England Test team recently and will partner with new captain Joe Root.
