VVS Laxman is currently the chief of the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE).
Many names have been discussed for the next head coach of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL franchise ever since New Zealand’s Stephen Fleming parted ways with the team after 18 years of association.
During his tenure, the Fleming and MS Dhoni combination brought immense glory to the CSK franchise with five IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023 and two Champions League T20 titles as well.
However, CSK’s failure to qualify for the IPL playoffs since their 2023 IPL win led to the team management taking this decision and ending their association with Fleming.
While there are many options to succeed Stephen Fleming as head coach of the Chennai Super Kings, former India opener Sadagoppan Ramesh has stated that VVS Laxman would be the finest choice, adding that Laxman can be a big brother to every member of the team.
“Many names are being mentioned as Fleming’s replacement. While options are aplenty, VVS Laxman is the best candidate to take over as CSK’s head coach. Among the three main reasons why he will work as CSK coach, the first is that he is a fantastic person.
He will be like a big brother to everyone in the team and take them to the next level. The CSK management has always looked at the team like a family. Such a wonderful culture will only get enhanced if Laxman becomes the head coach,” Ramesh said on his Instagram account.
“He also has coaching experience at the highest level, having worked as India’s interim head coach several times when Rahul Dravid and Gautam Gambhir were unavailable," Ramesh added.
VVS Laxman is currently the chief of the BCCI Center of Excellence (CoE), which was previously the NCA. He is often seen guiding the India A and India U19 sides and has taken over the India senior team coach role as well on an interim basis. He will be guiding the Indian team on their upcoming T20I tour of Zimbabwe.
