Winner of GT v RR Qualifier 2 match will face RCB in IPL final on May 31.
GT had done well to finish in the top two of the IPL 2026 points table but lost to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 1. Now, on May 29, 2026, GT will face RR, facing an uphill task for a comeback shot at the IPL 2026 title.
Ashwin stated that the Gujarat Titans will undoubtedly defeat Rajasthan before using the home advantage in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, despite giving up a staggering 254 runs to RCB and losing by 92 runs.
“GT will 100% beat RR all the way. I can give it in writing. And if GT qualifies for the final, they are winning the trophy for sure. They've measured the Ahmedabad track to an inch. GT will win its second title. RCB’s only hope is to catch a flight and stop GT in Mullanpur itself because they’ve no chance in Ahmedabad,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
RR and GT split the spoils in this season's two league-stage games. GT achieved a significant victory in Jaipur, while RR won in Ahmedabad.
Ashwin stated that Gill's team will still have the advantage even though Rajasthan might theoretically defeat Gujarat. The former RR bowler also pointed out that Sooryavanshi had been largely silent in the two previous meetings this season.
“The truth is, RR should beat GT in Qualifier 2 in terms of analysis. Yet, GT will win. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be a massive factor, but he knows he has to be careful against Siraj and Rabada. Even though he scored some in the two matches against GT, he didn’t go helter-skelter. He has to surely score, and I want him to, but I strongly believe GT is winning,” added Ashwin.
GT has won the IPL in 2022 and reached the final in the 2023 edition.
