After the teenager's incredible innings in the IPL 2026 Eliminator, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody was left at a loss for words on the influence Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is having on the game.

Sooryavanshi hammered 97 runs in only 29 balls with 12 sixes and 5 fours, to power RR to 243/8 in 20 overs. In response, SRH only managed 196 runs and lost the game by 47 runs, and were eliminated from the IPL 2026.

Moody described the 15-year-old's bat performance as "a level of dominance rarely seen in any format of the sport" and said it surpasses anything the cricket world has ever seen.

Against a fearsome pace unit that included Pat Cummins, Eshan Malinga, Praful Hinge, and Sakib Hussain, Sooryavanshi effortlessly cleared the ropes, making one of the tournament's best bowling assaults appear mediocre on the greatest platform.

I’m sort of trying to get my head around how to explain it. The only way to explain it is to ask someone to watch it and come up with their own description, because we’re witnessing something I don’t think we’ve seen in our lifetime in this format of the game, or even any format of the game. We’ve seen amazing things, but not to this extreme," Moody said on ESPNCricinfo.

Moody then compared Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s dominance in T20 to what Sir Don Bradman had in Test cricket. Legendary Australian batter Sir Donald Bradman is famous for having a Test average of 99.96, with 6996 runs in 52 Tests.

He emphasized how remarkable Sooryavanshi's ascent has been at such a young age, saying that the gap the 15-year-old has established between himself and the rest of the field in T20 cricket reminded him of Bradman's unrivaled numbers in Test cricket.

"The only thing I can take it back to is what Bradman was doing, Bradman nearly averaged 100 in Test cricket, and the drop-off to the next best was around 60, so that’s the separation we’re talking about. It’s that in T20 cricket at the age of 15," he added.

Sooryavanshi holds the Orange Cap for most runs in IPL 2026, with 680 runs in 15 games with a staggering strike rate of 242.85.
